This is a MSFS updated version of the standard traffic pattern tutorial for a C-172. The tutorial is based on the actual VFR traffic pattern flying of a C-172. It is important to note that the MSFS flying C-172, is only based on a real C-172. This tutorial will give you proper VFR traffic pattern procedures, and it might answer some basic questions for avid MSFS-ers who would actually like to know what some real aviation procedures are like. And it might just make you a better MSFS pilot. As far as how the MSFS compares to the actual flying, I personally find MSFS a little harder to fly than the real C-172, especially when trying to hold an altitude (exact trimming is almost impossible in the MSFS), and you also do not get a feel for the plane controls as you would in an actual plane. I personally do use MSFS, mainly for IFR training. The hours may not count towards my simulator time, but a little extra experience never hurt anybody. Enjoy.

With Boot Camp Assistant still open, choose the option to “Start the Windows installer.” You’ll need to pop that fresh, legally purchased copy of Windows 7 in the drive and click Continue to start installing.

Ejecting a stuck CD from an iMac

In the past, I’ve had problems trying to boot my iMac whilst installing OSX. The computer simply sticks on a plain white screen and does nothing. This is usually caused by a badly burned CD.

Perhaps the Mac is trying to boot from CD as it’s primary source, you can change this in the menu by holding down the ‘option’ key when you’ve switched the system on.

If this doesn’t cure you problem then you need to eject the CD.

Obviously the Superdrive in an iMac or Macbook doesn’t have a physical eject button so you have to look at other methods of retrieving the disk.

A few Methods of which are detailed below:

Start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out.
Some older Macs have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard’s eject button.
If this fails to work, some people choose to take a blank CD and wedge it into the drive, trying to grip the CD and pull it out. Not the easiest method but I have used it successfully before.
